Albert’s Living Room in the heart of Helsinki is a friendly meeting place for all generations. It’s a great place for you to get to know other parents of young children while your little ones enjoy themselves and develop important social skills as they play and do things together. You are very welcome to come and enjoy yourself. Take a breather in Albertinkatu.
Welcome to Albert’s Living Room
Albert’s Living Room (Albertin Olohuone or Olkkari, as it is lovingly known from the informal Finnish word for ‘living room’) is a cheerful hub where generations of people meet and chat about life over a free cup of coffee.
As well as meeting other families, you will find our volunteers, who welcome every visitor, are always someone for you to talk to, and to play happily with your children. The Olkkari welcomes all kinds of families, many of them from other countries, to get to know one another in Albert’s Living Room.
Babies and toddlers love being together on the soft carpet of the play corner and exploring the toys. We also have a breast-feeding room, nappy changing facilities with nappies, and a kitchen equipped with utensils, a fridge, a microwave oven and highchairs. During the opening hours of Albert’s Living Room, you too can have a romp in our little exercise room.
You don’t need to book in advance. All you need to do is show up and you’ll be warmly received. We operate in both Finnish and English.

Mondays 9.30 AM – 2 PM (International Monday)
Tuesdays 4.30 PM – 6.30 PM
Wednesdays 9.30 AM – 3 PM
Thursdays 9.30 AM – 3 PM
Fridays 9.30 AM – 3 PM
Every Tuesday from 9.30 AM to 12 AM there are also children’s activities in the downstairs lobby of the Kamppi Family Center.
To make Albert’s Living Room as safe as possible we keep our premises and toys clean. You can only take part in our activities if you are symptom free.

On maternity leave it can get lonely sometimes. Albert’s Living Room has become a really important place for us, where we can meet wonderful people of different ages. I always leave there with a big smile on my face and that goes for the baby too.”

Family Mentoring
Would you like to share your life-with-children with another adult? You can apply for a family mentor and get the kind of support that suits your family and life situation.
A family mentor is a trained HelsinkiMissio volunteer who is there to support you in your parenting. With your family mentor, you can do things together as a family or spend some time talking one-to-one.
